This is what's on my workdesk this week! I am in the middle of a mixed media collage including some of my watercolor illustrations and ephemera from my big ol' paper stash. The white areas are going to have added color and patterns. I just got a supply of pan pastels in the mail today, which I already love so much! Yes, they are expensive, but I have found that when I buy a bunch of supplies, I end up using them in one way or another throughout the years. They are such good quality with a creamy smoothness that I love. Plus you can blend them on top of areas you've already painted with acrylics (when dry, of course.)

Thanks! I love the colors too. I started with layers of acrylic paints and then a bit of the pan pastels in areas on top of the lighter colors. The pan pastels are very much like chalk pastels but come in a little jar. You put them on with something that looks like a makeup sponge or spongy applicator. Actually, I just used some eyeshadow applicators I had lying around. I've heard so many people raving about them I had to buy them. I don't know if you could really do a whole painting on canvas with them, but it's nice for some bright, easy accents. On paper, they are very smooth and have a soft, ethereal effect.
Wow colour-tastic! Amazing piece. Hey ho it's Friday but I'm still snooping the WOYWW desks & loving every minute of it! Take care Zo xx 33
I'm having a terrible time getting Blogger to cooperate with me, but I wanted to see that mixed media piece your are working on. I am in love with it. I've never used the pan pastels, but I hear they are fabulous. Glad to get your opinion of them, too.
