Anatomy of an Art Journal Page is an occasional series I post that shows a break-down of the parts of one of my art journal pages.  My hope is that it gives you inspiration for materials you could explore in your art journal and deconstructs the layers of my art.  Sometimes I look at other artist's layered artwork and think "what did they use to make this section?"

Painted Paper Collage using the Gelli Plates

 Here is a scrap collage I made this weekend.  I had been playing around with my Gelli plates at school. The 5th and 6th graders are using them to make lots of textured painted papers and then we are cutting them up into collages.  I made lots of samples for demonstration and to test out different techniques.  I took the scraps home and arranged them in my journal as a collage.

I have been absolutely blown away to the response to our Fall Fearless and Fly Challenge.  It is not too late to join us.  There are many more prompts to come!

I just received Orly Avineri's book in the mail.  It is gorgeous and I can't wait to read it.  I flipped through it and it is chock-full of beautiful pages.  (I do not get paid to review books/nor have I gotten this one for free.)  I really think this one is worth the money if you like her blog and I hope more people start publishing full books of art journal pages (rather than simply how-to books).
